Essential Skills Training & Recruitment (RTO ID 91729), in partnership with multiple employers in the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland and Port Stephens area, are seeking up to 30 new staff to commence work under a traineeship model in the Aged Care / Home and Community Care sector. These are genuine positions!

The Aged Care sector is currently experiencing massive growth and as such has seen a significant increase of demand for quality care workers in the home and community sector and facility-based services. We have 3 nationally recognised and highly respected organisations who are desperate to find new talent.

 

Desirable skills:

To be successful in this role you will have:
• Positive ‘can-do’ attitude
• Confidence and ability to work independently.
• Customer service experience (desirable but not essential).
• Clear criminal history and willing to undergo a national police background check.
• Good availability, willing to work shift work (including weekends).
• Current driver license and own vehicle
• Full comprehensive motor insurance (or willing to upgrade).
• Aspiration to grow with the respective organisation.

 

To be eligible you must be:

• 18 years or older & no longer at school.
• Living in the Newcastle, Hunter, or Lake Macquarie area.
• An Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
• NOT already have the CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support.

Pending review, you may be contacted by one of our Customer Relations Officers to determine your eligibility. If suitable, you will be invited to attend one of the 2 upcoming recruitment information sessions on Tuesday 20th April 2021, where you will have the opportunity to meet the employers and learn more about the roles.

 

How the program works:
Successful candidates will undertake a 4-week (unpaid) training program at Essential Skills Training commencing Tuesday 27th April 2021, where they will learn the baseline skills of an Aged / Home & Community Care Worker. The program is broken down into 2 weeks of class-based training, followed by 2 weeks of work placement (unpaid) where you will be mentored and supervised by an experienced Care Worker from one of the participating organisations.

Upon successful completion of the 4-week recruitment program, all participants will be issued with a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment for the following 4 units of competency;

• HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care.
• CHCCCS011 Meet personal support needs.
• CHCLEG001 Work legally and ethically.
• HLTINF001 Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures.

Our employers will then choose up to 30 candidates to join their team under a permanent part-time contract (traineeship) where they will complete the full qualification – CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) whilst being in paid employment.

Applicants will be invited to attend a 1-hour information at Essential Skills Training & Recruitment session on Friday 16th April 2021 where you will have the opportunity to meet the team from Hunter Community Services. You must attend the information session to eligible for a position.
