HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

This course covers the knowledge and skills required to provide CPR, manage and assess an emergency situation, use an automatic external defibrillator (AED), understand DRSABCD and the First Aider’s legal responsibilities. Provide CPR is trained and assessed in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

Qualification Issued: Statement of Attainment – HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

This qualification is valid for 1 year. The Australian Resuscitation Councils recommends that CPR is renewed annually.

Blended – A combination of a (3 hour) face-to-face trainer led workshop and online/distance pre-learning component.

Approximately 6 – 8 hours. This includes the distance/online pre-learning theory component and a 3 hour classroom practical workshop.

To gain course entry you must;

  • Be aged 16 years or over. Students under 18 years must have parent or guardian consent to participate in this program.
  • Have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).
  • Have access to a computer and reliable internet connection, and basic digital literacy skills to complete the distance/online pre-learning component of this course.
  • Be able to kneel to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a manikin that is placed on the floor. If you have any limitations that may affect your ability to perform this, please contact us to discuss prior to booking.

Note: The online pre-course theory and online knowledge assessment should be reviewed PRIOR to attending the practical workshop and must be completed within 2 weeks of attending the practical session. You should allow between 1 – 2 hours to complete the online knowledge assessment. Your Statement of Attainment will not be issued until all course requirements have been successfully completed.

On application of enrolment, you will complete a Pre-Training Review interview with one of our Customer Relationships Officers. The purpose of this process is to; ensure that this course is both appropriate, and the most suitable course option for you and determine if there is any additional support required to assist you with your training. You will then be sent a link to complete the online enrolment form and student declaration to finalise your enrolment.
